The Gams Hotel is steeped in hospitality tradition. It has been owned by our family for more than 200 years. Browsing through the archives of the town of Beilngries in search of the origins of the Gams Hotel, you can find a description of the property dating back to 1644. Referring to the site where now stands the hotel building, the document states a property owned by Michael Höll, a beer brewer. In 1794, the ownership of the inn was transferred to the Leidl Family along with a planning permission. Until today, their descendants have kept control over the destiny of the Gams Hotel.
Since then, a lot of things have changed… In 1969, a café was built to complement the restaurant. Eduard Liebscher extended the building in 1977 and had a nearby seminar centre built in 1980, which is now called “Kreativhaus”. In 2014, the ancient smithy next to the hotel was converted into a guest house to expand the facilities and accommodation options. With much attention to detail, a stylish event location and 7 distinctively decorated themed rooms have been created there. Today, the Gams offers every comfort you would expect from a 4 star hotel in 60 tastefully furnished bedrooms and apartments as well as 11 meeting rooms varying in size from 25 to 170 square metres.
However, there is one thing that has not changed over the years. The homely and intimate atmosphere and the warm-heartedness with which the Liebscher Family and their obliging team look after the guests. This makes our hotel a quite special place, which is arguably best described by the word “Cosiness”, implying familiarity, a feeling of security and homeliness. This is what awaits you at the Gams. The cheerful smile in the face of the staff will make you feel welcome when stepping in. And soon you will really feel at home.
The Gams Hotel is a real home away from home, nestling in one of the largest nature parks in Germany – the “Altmühltal” Valley. It is a marvellous place to spend time with the family, friends or colleagues. To recover from the sometimes strenuous daily life. To enjoy together the natural scenery and explore the local history. To discover historic Roman and Celtic sites during a bicycle ride. To walk across wild flower meadows in bloom and to visit awesome castles and monasteries. To paddle leisurely in the canoe on the slow moving River “Altmühl”. The surroundings provide endless opportunities for an amazing stay in one of the most multifaceted holiday regions in Germany.
To the Altmühltal“The Gams is a passion that comes from our heart. Every guest can feel it from the first moment.”
Birgit & Markus Liebscher
Your hosts Birgit and Markus Liebscher have been successfully running the Hotel die Gams in the middle of the old town of Beilngries for many years. While Birgit is more responsible for the reservations and the hotel business, Markus loves to lend a hand in the kitchen. For both of them, the interaction with the guests is the greatest gift. With great cordiality, they exude a cosy and convivial atmosphere in the hotel. With great ties to their home town of Beilngries and the Altmühltal, working with regional suppliers is especially important to them. As an employer, they are also always happy to receive committed and interested employees and applicants. The warmth of their hosts not only rubs off on the guests, but also on the working atmosphere and the team at the Gams. With a lot of creativity and innovative spirit, we look forward to many more years at the Gams!
In the middle of the Nature Park Altmühltal.
In the middle of the historic old town of Beilngries.
The Altmühltal Nature Park lies in the central part of Bavaria, not far from the cities of Munich, Nuremberg, Augsburg, Regensburg and Ingolstadt. The town of Beilngries with its medieval towers and baroque-style buildings nestles in the very heart of the Nature Park surrounded by gently rolling hills, meadows and woodlands. The Gams Hotel enjoys a convenient central location in the old town of Beilngries. From the doorstep you can explore the town taking a stroll along the recently refurbished main street. You should not miss to take a little detour through the marvellously restored “Sulzpark” Garden.
More to the location & directionYour opinion is important to us.
Being a host is our passion. We love to create a temporary home for our guests. A home, where our guests feel good and comfortable. Seeing our guests happy and leaving the Gams satisfied after their stay, is the best feeling for us. But what makes us even more fortunate are reviews. Written by guests, who take their precious time to commend us.
